Kill Switch
One action that stops an agent from spending and brings its money home.

What happens
- 1On Build & control → Agent wallets, press Sweep back on the agent’s card and enter its password. The key is decrypted in that tab only.
- 2The dApp builds one transaction that returns all of the agent’s USDC and all of its SOL to your main wallet. It also closes the emptied USDC account, so the rent you paid to create it comes back too.
- 3With your main wallet connected, it pays the network fee and the agent ends at exactly zero. You approve once in your wallet; the signature then shows up in Agent activity.
Why it works
The only thing an agent can spend is what sits in its wallet. Once the balance is home, the key is worthless, wherever copies of it are. There are no approvals to revoke and no API keys to rotate; this is the payoff of giving every agent its own wallet.
Soft and hard stops
| Stop | How | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Soft | Turn on the kill switch on the Mandates page and export mandate.json again | The agent's client refuses every payment. Funds stay put. Reversible. |
| Hard | Sweep back | Funds leave. Works even against an agent that ignores its mandate. |
The wrapper reads mandate.json when the agent starts, so a soft stop takes effect once the agent restarts or reloads its mandate. When it has to stop now, sweep.
Fees
A sweep is one ordinary Solana transaction: 5,000 lamports per signature. When your main wallet is connected it pays that fee, so agents don’t need to keep SOL around for it. Without it, the agent pays its own fee from its SOL, and the dApp asks you to connect your main wallet if the agent can’t cover it.
